Purplefish is an AI-powered material and labor takeoff platform for pipe fabrication contractors. Welcome to the latest update on what we're building, what we're learning, and what's improving inside Purplefish.

๐Ÿ”ง LTO: from weld counts to labor takeoff

Last month we introduced LTO. This month it covers a lot more of the labor in your bid.

Field welds, tie points, open ends: auto-detected

If the engineer marked them, we find them: every field weld symbol and tie point on the drawings gets counted straight into your Shop and Field totals, tagged by type.

New LTO tables

  • Pipe Length
  • Threaded Connections
  • Valves & Instruments
  • Supports

Welds were never the only labor on an ISO. You still have to make the cuts and bevels, handle and set every valve, make up the threaded joints, and deal with the supports. Each now gets its own table, bucketed and exported to Excel like your welds, so your factors reach all of it.

Centerline length by NPS

One of our most requested features to date. In addition to pipe cut length, we now also calculate and display centerline length, the full run measured through the fittings.

Additional welds on long runs of pipe

And a reminder from last month: set your pipe stock lengths per project and the welds on long runs get added automatically.

๐Ÿ” Advanced ISO Search

Search the drawings themselves for any text, across the whole package. Instantly find every tie point, every open end, every note, one search.

๐Ÿงฌ What's next?

  1. Faster LTO verification. The biggest thing on our bench: working through the Unresolved queue, pairing loose ends, and filling the gaps we flag should take far fewer clicks. Also, per-ISO LTO: weld counts by individual drawing, so you can estimate and progress a job ISO by ISO.
  2. Supporting documents. Upload line lists, pipe specs, and tie-in tables with your ISO package starting now. Soon they'll fill the gaps the drawings leave, like a schedule pulled from the spec, or a tie point count checked against the tie-in table.

Full bore ahead,
